Vindens vorspiel/ forleikur vindsins13.08-11.09

Laugardaginn 13. ágúst opnar sýning á verkefninu Vindens forspiel að Dynskógum 4, Egilsstöðum (Rauða krossinum, neðri hæð). Sýningin fer fram bæði innan og utandyra.

Undanfarnar vikur hafa listakonurnar Yvonne Normanseth og Inger Emilie Solheim dvalið í gestavinnustofu Sláturhússins og unnið að sýningunni Vindens Vorspiel.

Sýningin  samanstendur  af myndverkum og frásögn þar sem listamennirnir reyna að hafa áhrif á veðurkerfið með tæki sem byggir á hugmyndinni um „skýsáningu“, tækni sem dreifir örögnum í andrúmsloftinu til að hafa áhrif á skýin. Listakonurnar hafa hannað tól til að stjórna veðri og vindum með reyk af staðbundnum plöntum frá Egilsstöðumog Finnmörk í Noregisem brenndar eru í sérmíðuðum brennara.

Listakonurnar byggja rannsóknir sínar á staðbundnumloftslags og gróðuraðstæðum ásamt því að notahefðbundin tákn og merkingar frá uppvexti sínum í Finnmörku í Norður-Noregi. Þær Yvonne og Inger Emilie eiga báðar rætur sínar að rekjatil sama og finnsk-norskra átthaga og nýta  sér hefðbundna þekkingu úr menningararfleið sama og tengja þær við nýrri vísindakenningar.

Þema

Listakonurnar nota uppskáldaða helgisiði og uppfinningar sem leið til að eiga samskipti við og sefa veðrið. Líta má á andlega flutningsaðgerðina sem gervitæknilega og póst-sjamaníska.

Innblásnar af vistfræði, flatri verufræði og hnattrænum breytingum í veðurkerfum, leitast Solheim og Normanseth við að eiga samskipti á mismunandi stigum tilverunnar. Þær nýta sér plöntur og byggja verk sín að sem mestu leyti á fundnum efnivið

The Vorspiel of the Wind is made by visual artists Yvonne Normanseth and Inger Emilie Solheim.

Vorspiel of the Wind consists of exhibited works and a narrative where the artists try and impact the weather system through a device which is based on the idea of 'cloud seeding', a technology which spreads micro-particles in the atmosphere to influence the clouds. Smoke from the burning of incense made from local plants (both from Egilsstadir, Iceland and Finnmark, Norway) will through a carefully constructed burner control the weather, rain, wind and clouds.

The artists base their research on local flora and atmospheric conditions, anchoring their visions of alternative technology in plant remedies. They also use symbols and cues from theirs upbringing in Finnmark in northern Norway. They are both of Sámi and Norwegian-Finnish heritage, and make use of traditional knowledge which they synthesise with new scientific theories.

Thematics

The artists are using fictional rituals and inventions as a way of communicating with and soothing the weather. The spiritual performative action is might be seen as pseudo-technological and post-shamanistic.

Inspired by ecology and flat ontology and the global shift in the weather systems, Solheim and Normanseth wish to communicate across different levels of existence. They make use of plants and base their works on second hand and found materials as much as they can.
